Chatbazaar Chatbazaar is a relatively popular free chatting and dating site. The site seems to have a focus on USA and UK residents, which also seems to be backed up by its Alexa research data as far as I can tell. To use the dating portion of the site you are required to register and create a profile, as would be expected. As for the chatting portion of the site, you are not required to register to use it, and it utilizes Adobe Flash software and has multiple rooms to choose from. These rooms include General, I Am Bored, Age 18-25, Age 26-35, Age 36-45, and Age 46+. Breaking the rooms down by age is definitely a plus, and I think that is one of ChatBazaar’s stronger features.

In terms of random chatting, the site does not seem to include your typical Chatroulette version of chatting. However, the chat rooms it does have all seem to have quite a few people in them, so that’s a plus. I should also add, that although you are not required to register to use the chatting functionality, if you do register extra features are unlocked for you to use, so if you like what you see you will probably want to register right away. Hehechat Group Chat Rooms Online Hehechat is a free provider of online chat rooms that utilize Adobe Flash. The site seems to be pretty popular and active, and there are two main rooms that people seem to congregate in. First, there is the general chat room, and then there is the adult chat room. Based on my experience, it would seem both have roughly the same number of users at any given time. However, it would seem that neither of these main rooms have the functionality for running live video feeds, and the one other room they have dedicated to video chatting has essentially nobody in it, which was a bit disappointing. Hopefully they will upgrade the software of their main rooms to include video sometime in the near future. On a related note, as you would have probably guessed, there is no roulette chatting functionality.

According to Alexa they have a pretty solid number of daily visitors coming through, with USA being their main location. It also looks like they are trending upwards, which is always a good sign with a chat site. After all, trending in the opposite direction can kill a chat site pretty quick, at least based in my experience.  Wiredclub is a popular chatting site with a variety of group chat rooms and games to choose from, but no Chatroulette-type service. Room and game topics include private chat lobby, dating, bingo, philosophy, music, blackjack, religion, slots, and atheism. Thus, there are a whole lot of ways to entertain yourself on the site! However, one downside for those of you who like remaining anonymous is you have to register before you can chat or play any games. The benefits of this include the ability to view people’s profiles and learn more about them right away, the ability to search for people, and the ability to add anyone as a friend so you can more easily save new contacts. Of course, registering and using the site is completely free.

Based on the Alexa data for this site, it seems to be pretty popular. To verify this I went in to the chat rooms, and they all seem to be pretty active, so that’s a good sign. It also looks like they get a lot of traffic from USA, Australia, and Canada – there are also plenty of other countries, but those seem to be the big ones. If you look at the design of user profiles, it’s not too bad, but not that great either – I guess it’s good enough to get the job done, which is what counts. Also, one more cool feature I noticed is you have the ability to create and join clubs, so that could be fun – I remember back in the day when Facebook clubs were considered ultra cool, so this could bring back some of that spunk.  Chat Avenue was originally established clear back in 1999, and it still maintains a sort of vintage old school design theme – definitely hasn’t been Web 2.0-ified. However, this doesn’t detract from Chat Avenue’s large user base and quality chat software. You see, despite the old school look, they still have some of the newest flash-based group cam chat software, and plenty of people online to mingle with. One of the great things about their site also is how they have so many different Chatting categories. These categories include college, adult, singles, dating, general, teen, kids, gay, girls, live, video games, sports, music, lesbian, video, and boys, so there are a lot of options if you’re looking for something a little more specific than what you’ll find at most of the sites I have reviewed.

However, the one thing Chat Avenue lacks is a Chatroulette-style system. I’m actually kind of surprised by this because it would be so easy for them to just add one in, and thereby expand their current offerings for the better, but who knows, maybe they have plans to add it down the road. In terms of where users are from, their website claims they are mainly from USA, Canada, Australia, and UK, and a quick look at Alexa research data seems to confirm that this is true. I should also mention that an extra feature they have that most chat sites do not is their own forum, and it looks pretty active, so if that’s something you’re looking for in a chat site this might be the one for you. Wocchat Roulette Video Chat Site Wocchat (World of Chat)  is one of the older random chatting sites, which came out from what I recall after Omegle but before Chatroulette. They’re one of the few sites that also combined the random chatting features with those of a social network, similar to iMeetzu. This combination seemed to help them gain in popularity, well, at least back in the day. Since their peak they’ve definitely died down a bit, but they still remain decently popular as far as I can tell. A quick look at their Alexa traffic ranking and other included information allows me to confirm my assumptions.

Alexa shows Wocchat as still holding a decent ranking, but the trend definitely isn’t up. Nonetheless, at this very moment they still have enough users to keep the site going, which is really what matters when it comes down to it. If you decide to give them a visit, you’ll see that the social networking features tend to dominate the menu, and the roulette system is confined to a single page. Thus, it would seem they really wanted to concentrate on building their community, but people just didn’t stick around as much as they hoped. Lollichat is basically an exact copy of the original Chatroulette, only with a new attention grabbing name. I mean, once you hear “Lollichat” you’re curious and you want to check it out, that’s just the way it is. This is probably the reason the site became relatively popular at one point, and still maintains a decent number of users still to this day. I suppose there might be one difference, which is that you have to literally click an “agree” button saying you will not do anything disgusting or else risk being reported to Interpol. However, despite the warning with the button, after only 2 nexts I came across the usual unsettling image, so the warning doesn’t seem to be doing much to help stop the problem.

Anyway, I did a little research and according to Alexa their users online are still decent BUT they are in decline, and a pretty big decline at that. In other words, by the time you read this it’s quite possible they will no longer be any good. However, there’s not really any way for you to know for sure I suppose, maybe they will have a rebound or something, who knows.
